The Principal of the firm, Ms. Tara Carter was born in Anguilla. She obtained an LL.B. in 2004 at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to that, she studied two years of Business Administration at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.
From 2005 to 2006, she was employed with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in Manitoba and admitted to the Law Society of Manitoba in 2005. In 2006 she obtained the Legal Education Certificate at the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and returned to Anguilla in April 2006 to be admitted to practice. She has been admitted to the Bars of: Manitoba, Anguilla, Antigua, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, and St. Kitts & Nevis.
Her practice areas are: Banking, Corporate Law, Civil Litigation, Commercial, Real Estate Transactions, Employment, Wills, and Estates. She has worked extensively on tourism development projects including sales and acquisitions; liquidations and receiverships; government negotiations and financing transactions. She has worked on major tourism projects such as Cuisinart Golf Resort & Spa, Cap Juluca Resort, Zemi Beach House, LXR Hotels and Resorts, and Malliouhana Auberge Resort. During her career, she has served as the Chairperson of the Health Authority Board of Anguilla, Deputy Chair of the Financial Services Commission, and served as Legal Counsel to the Caribbean Commercial Bank (Anguilla) Limited.
